WAYNE CAUSEY, CONTRACT WORSHIP AND MUSIC SPECIALIST, TN BAPTIST MISSION BOARD

Wayne Causey has served as the Contract Worship and Music Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board since September 2023, where he oversees the Worship and Music area of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. Wayne holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stetson University in DeLand, FL, and a Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Wayne serves as the primary liaison between the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board and the Tennessee Baptist Church Music Conference. 

Since 1980, Wayne has served three churches as worship pastor, beginning with Ooltewah Baptist Church in Ooltewah, TN, then First Baptist Church in Princeton, KY, and most recently, 29 years at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville.

Wayne served as Coordinator of Church Music at Belmont University's School of Music for over 20 years, where he advised graduate and undergraduate church music students and taught classes in the theology, practice, and philosophy of church music in the local church. Along with his work at the TBMB, Causey personally coaches worship pastors across the state who are seeking to sharpen their leadership skills.

Wayne and his wife, Carrie, live on a small farm in northern Sumner County, Tennessee, where they enjoy working in their garden and orchard. They are the proud parents of two children, Andrew (Lisa) and Joanna (Nathan), and ten grandchildren.
